An Evaluation of Physical Activity Levels amongst University Employees

Approximately 60% of the world’s population do not meet physical activity (PA) guidelines. Physical inactivity is increasing in occupations, with work-related health issues becoming more prevalent. University employees’ work a range job roles and PA levels this unclear. Thus, study aimed to evaluate amongst university employees UK Higher Education institution. Four hundred (male = 131, female 269) partook quantitative completed an online International Activity Questionnaire Long Form (IPAQ-LF) assess total moderate vigorous (MVPA) MVPA. A Mann-Whitney U test examined differences MVPA between genders Kruskal-Wallis H related roles. The findings showed that engaged median 330 minutes 1770 METs across all domains IPAQ-LF. Further, time spent was 30 123 METs. There significant difference genders, as males 150 compared females (p p > 0.05). Findings suggest role does affect within workplace, although they propose engage females. As result subjective nature research, objective research required confirm current findings.
